Neymar Puts Liverpool in a Difficult Position Regarding Mohamed Salah’s Future

Liverpool is facing a dilemma regarding the future of their star player, Mohamed Salah, due to the involvement of Neymar, a player for Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, according to reports published today.

It is well-known that Mohamed Salah’s current contract with Liverpool will expire in the summer of 2025, which marks the end of this current season.

Despite Mohamed Salah’s brilliant performances this season, he has publicly stated multiple times that there has been no progress regarding his future at Liverpool.

Salah had previously been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Ittihad attempting to lure him in with a very lucrative contract. However, Liverpool rejected that offer in the summer of 2023.

The possibility of Salah moving to the Saudi Pro League remains, especially with reports indicating Al Hilal’s interest in signing him.

Recent reports have revealed that Al Hilal is aiming to bring Mohamed Salah to the club next summer to strengthen their squad ahead of their participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States under a new format.

Al Hilal is in Group E for the upcoming Club World Cup, alongside Real Madrid, Salzburg, and Pachuca.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal’s player Neymar is preparing to leave the Saudi club and return to his former team, Santos in Brazil.

The English outlet "TEAMtalk" reported that Neymar’s imminent departure from Al Hilal will have serious consequences for Liverpool, as the Saudi club’s links to Salah could be affected.

The report explained that Neymar’s departure would provide Al Hilal with a significant boost, as it would alleviate the financial burden of his massive annual salary, which amounts to £138 million.

It was noted that this would free up the space needed for Al Hilal to sign Mohamed Salah, who would become one of the highest-paid footballers in the world if he moves to Saudi Arabia.

The report also highlighted positive relations between Saudi football officials and Mohamed Salah following the attempt to sign him in the summer of 2023. Salah, aged 32, is aware that a huge contract awaits him should he agree to move to the Saudi league.

Although Liverpool is keen to keep Salah, they are unable to compete with the financial offers being presented by Saudi Arabia and Al Hilal in terms of salary.

Both Mohamed Salah and Liverpool’s management are still far from reaching an agreement due to differences over the contract length and salary.

The same outlet confirmed that many in Saudi Arabia are confident Salah will join Al Hilal next season, but those behind the scenes at Liverpool insist that nothing has been decided yet.
